Character Trait of the Month

February is Citizenship

Citizenship means being a good member of the community and protecting the environment.  It means you obey the rules and you work to make your community better.  A good citize

  • Respects authority
  • Plays by the rules
  • Obeys Parents, Teachers, Coaches, and other with authority
  • Observes the laws
  • Does their civic duty like voting in elections, learning about issues that concern everyone, and doesn't complain about it without trying to do something about it.

Abraham Lincoln said "Let us at all times remember that all American citizens are brothers of a common country, and should dwell together in bonds of fraternal feeling."

How can you be a good citizen?

  • Do your share to make your school, your community, and your world a better place.
  • Take responsibility for things you say and do, and tell your friends when they are doing something you know they shouldn't.
  • Participate in community service.  Do something nice for someone else!
  • Help take care of the environment.  Think about things you buy and just throw away!
  • Be a good neighbor.
  • Follow the rules of your family, your school, and your society.

Parent Tips for Character Education

February is Citizenship

We know families have the primary responsiblility for teaching their character values to the children in the family.   We at Berg Elementary are not trying to replace this role in the your child's life.  It is very obvious that the best way to influence a child is through adults in their lives modeling good character. In this way, we are cooperating together to make your child's education the best it can be!

What you can do:

  • Talk to your child about citizenship and things you do  y that demonstrates how you are a good citizen.  Tell them about watching the news or reading the newspaper to find out about issues, tell them the importance of voting.
  • Have the family participate in a community service project.
  • Notice and tell your child when you observe them being a good citizen at home or in other places around the community (such as at church or school).
  • Point out when you do something that demonstrates your good citizenship - because children learn a lot from watching adults in their lives.

Berg Elementary

Welcome to the Berg Elementary section of the website.

This year parents may drop their children off at the front door of the new addition or at the Superintendent's door. This should cut down on the congestion.

Because of the narrow street, please drop students off on the school side of the street and try to avoid double parking. There is additional parking just north of the playground at the new bus barn.

Please DO NOT let students off in the back of the building where the busses unload. We appreciate your cooperation conerning this matter and feel this will be the safest situation for everyone concerned.

Here's what you will find in the menu for the Elementary section of the school's website:
